There is and there are

Use there + be to show that something is present or exist. E. g.: There is an unusual book in the library. Use there is with singular subjects and there are with plural subjects. We often use there + be with a, some and any. a) statement: there is ( There´s) or There are (There´re); b) negative: There is not ( there isn´t) or There are not ( there aren´t); c) question: Is there? or Are there?; d) short answers: yes, there is./ no, there is not. or yes, there are./ no, there are not.
